archiving?!?!? like, actual archiving?!?!?!

Yes, you heard that right, I'm actually going to be DOING some archiving this week!

since nothing can exist on the internet forever and hosting images, information and all that kinda stuff anywhere in the trust of a company is EXTREMELY dangerous, I want to do my best to preserve the three seasonal servers that hold the most content regarding the campaign itself.

truth be told, there are actually 5 servers in total: the aformentioned 3, 1 a test run (before it got scrapped and a new one was made), and 1 a campaign that was completely disconnected from the first three campaigns, with more fantastical elements involved and leaning more into Dungeons and Dragons lore than anything else.

trust me when I say that I would love to archive all of them, however, my access to the other 2 servers is out of my reach and I would have to personally ask to be invited back in to properly document them, now that I have the means to.

speaking of my means, I am using Tyrrrz DiscordChatExporter in order to make this possible. I'd also need to get some other appliances regarding things (hey don't worry about it) so that this happens much more smoothly, as well as using and alternate account so I don't risk my main stuff getting banned as well (since automating user accounts is against Discord's TOS, though bots are exempt from this rule).

anyway YAAAY YAAAY JUMPS UP AND DOWN EXCITEDLY. personally cannot wait to actually do something that is important to me and make this all possible, since I wasn't even sure how I would go about archiving the servers in the first place. But now I do!!! Hooray!!!

hiii! back at it again with another update!

Unfortunately both of us are still busy with personal affairs, but my insanity has not rested even ONCE; i didn't wanna pass up a halloween update during this point in time!

Most of my time has been spent brainstorming story beats and possible interactions between characters, as well as imagining a possible media to portray this story as... of course, the story needs to actually be... solidified first. Who would've thought?

My energy has also unknowingly been depleated for most things, but i think I just need to get some source of inspiration that will surely strike me like lightning! New approaches to situations, come to me...

Music usually saves me during moments like this. Maybe I should listen to someone's discography? I got recommended Mort Garson (? more like. Someone showed me his music), which he seems very interesting... should probably also listen to more That Handsome Devil or Them's Fightin' Herds Original Soundtrack...

CASUAL FRIDAY (10.06.2023)

trying my hardest i swear

. . . sooooo... how've y'all been...

I'm not gonna complain too much because I've already done enough of that already, and I just want to say that progress is still being made and developed! ... Admittedly, it's a little bit on the backburner right now due to forces beyond our control, but DH is still being worked on as a story!

I've mostly just been trying to manage my own personal time and garner more inspiration for the story and what themes I want to portray. Like a lot of people, I want to say something..! I've also been brainstorming different formats, but that's obviously going to be an ambitious thing to accomplish. And we should probably actually have a story down at that point, yeah?

I've also been taking some personal time to go into the w3schools mines. still learning how to use styles and all of that.

it's nothing impressive, but it's a start.

I also need to go out of my way and save some backups to this site, it's no good to keep all your eggs in one basket and all! And if Neocities goes down under (unlikely, but... still, you should never be too carful) I at least haven't lost everything.

CASUAL FRIDAY (09.24.2023)

I KEEP MISSING THESE DAYS, GODDAMNIT!

First of all... thank you for being so patient with me as I begin to properly learn how to do more than the basics of HTML! And thank you for 400 views, so far!

This update is... again, supposed to be casual. The Throwback Thursday post you may have already seen is still... a giant mess, I'm well aware. I've just been extremely busy and down in the dumps lately while working on other things, you see. Then again, I've always been a bit of a procrastionator...

Regardless! The Archive is still being worked on, it's primariy just being stalled due to my cowardice. Even though I look through the past through a nostalgic lense at times, I am well aware that the foundation of what the original premise and campaign were founded on were, to put it blatantly, shallow in comparison to the relationships and connections that happened over the course of that year between June 2019 and September 2020. Thus, it has been hard to properly look into the past on anything relating to the story.

And confronting that mess of your teenage self, frozen in time in a catalogue of messages is one of the bravest things a person who grew up on the internet can look back on.

AHEM! I think I have stalled long enough. I encourage everyone viewing this site to properly do some digging yourself and come to your own judgement. Here is a link to the Instagram page. An archived link will also be provided sometime soon, since the servers are overloaded as of writing this. Those who decide to check it out are braver than I could ever be.

CASUAL FRIDAY (09.17.2023)

First Updates and it's not even on a Friday...

I'll be real: I've been working as much as I've been able to with this site, and I'm still not... entirely sure how things are done here. Especially when I'm working with code that I've never been able to touch before. I've only worked with HTML until now, and even then, I know the bare bones of basics when it comes to the language.

I'll live, of course, but let's actually talk about the Story.

I have mentioned it before, but me and Syd are both working on Dashed Hope's revival. Do we know what format? No. Do we know if we even want to publish it and have an audience for it in the first place? No. Is it fun to worldbuild and create character relations that, at the very least, are interesting to the both of us? HELL YEAH!!!!

While as of now it's just a bunch of Google Documents, A singular Google Sheet, an incredibly active private Discord channel and a bunch of ideas in my head, I want to fully tell the story we've created together. Some day, though. I don't think with the lives we both live that it's entirely possible to write and flesh out Dashed Hope (DH) in it's entirety.

... Speaking of which, we DO know that this story is played over the course of three different stories, or "seasons" (a little callback to DH's roots, y'know?). Each one tackles different scenarios, themes and ideas, tied together within one overarching plot.

If you think that's kind of vague, that's the point.

It's still a GIANTIC work in progress, and even with the details we have now, we would still need to smooth things over and really take our time with it. It's a passion project, and we both lead busy lives! It needs a little bit more cooking in the oven!

So does this site, too... I won't lie and say I'm stubborn when I consistently asked to use Neocities instead of any other blogging site, but I truly believe this is a good format with what we both want to achieve. And by whatever's out there, I'll achieve it.

Anyways, that kind of wraps up Casual Friday! It's kinda meant to be casual, so... uhm. Don't know what you were expecting there.

I'll be continuing to edit this site for infinity now!
